BEHIND THE CAMERA

My approach to photography developed organically, guided more by instinct than by rules. I’m drawn to raw, honest, and culturally rich moments, especially the movement, expressions, conversations, and little things that happen in between.
Over the years, my camera has followed me through advocacy and community spaces, workplaces, and everyday life. Just as often, I’ve turned toward whatever made me stop and look, maybe, if i'm lucky, that curiosity will take my camera all the way to the White House one day.
Alongside a background in psychology, social justice, and conflict resolution, photography has remained a creative space for me. My curiosity often extends beyond the photograph, into the details, spaces, and ideas that shape the experience around it.
A few photographs have been published, landed on the cover of a journal or recognized along the way. Others simply hold a memory for me or for the people in them. Both matter.

AMY
For Amy, photography and sport have always gone hand in hand. As an athlete herself, she knows the rhythm of a race, the energy before the start, and those few seconds when you can feel something is about to happen. When she isn’t the one running, she’s often behind the lens, photographing the athletes and people around her.
Beyond the sidelines, her camera has followed her into other parts of life. While interning at the Hawaiʻi State Capitol, she kept it close, capturing cultural gatherings, legislative sessions and the everyday moments unfolding around her. It has continued to come along through events, workplaces, and new experiences.
Amy especially loves photographing outdoors, where natural light and movement become part of the image. An avid sports fan, she hopes that one day her camera takes her onto a professional field, photographing the kind of action she’s always loved being around.
